Possible Problems:

  • Modem phone cord plugged into the wrong jack on the back of your computer.

  • No dial tone on your phone line.


Use the links below to guide your way through the troubleshooting process.

Enable/Disable "Wait for dial tone before dialing" in the modem properties.
Swop the lines connected to the modem, even if the customer says that it is correct.
Remember that the line from the wall must go into the line socket in modem and external phone must go into the phone socket of modem
Check whether the telephone system is tone or pulse.
Add or Remove initialisation string from Modem Properties
