Possible Problems:

  • There is a problem with configuration and/or installation of the modem.

  • The most common cause for this is you are not dialing the right number.

Check what type of modem is installed in Modem Properties and make sure the correct driver is installed
Make sure that the modem is switched on
Check to see whether the correct number is being dialled
Ask the customer to dial the POP number from the handset to hear if he reaches the POP
Add or Remove initialisation string from Modem Properties
