Possible Problems:

  • There is a problem with configuration and/or installation of the modem.

  • Incorrect DNS entries in DUN or TCP/IP Settings.

Check what type of modem is installed in Modem Properties and make sure the correct driver is installed
Run a modem diagnostics test in Modem Properties
Refresh TCP/IP in the network settings
For USR Modems - Inserting at&f1 as an extra setting usually works
Add or Remove initialisation string from Modem Properties
